'Learning Experiences in a World of Change'

Regional PDP/E portfolio Forum
Phoenix Building (Room G10 Innovation Room)
University of Teesside
Monday 16th June 2008
9:45am-1:30pm

This regional forum will focus on two linked topics: learning journeys and personalised learning.

Below is a session outline and below that, to help us use the time effectively, we have listed a set of possible questions we might like to think about beforehand. If you have any suggested additions or adaptations, please let me know. You might also want to think about what you want to get out of the forum as we are aiming to begin with a brief conversation about what we can most usefully get from the session for us and our institutions.

Questions we might think about:

Learning Journeys

What do we mean by Ljs?
What exactly is it/are they?
What commonalities might there be in people Ljs?
How might we (as tutors etc) guide/support them on their LJ?
What are the key transitions in Ljs?
How do these relate to the ways we might support learners?
How do we make transitions as smooth as possible?
What is the value of PDP at different stages? Is it actually different? If yes, in what ways?

Personalised Learning

In what ways is learning personalised anyway? And how does this relate to our PDP provision and support?
How do we engage different learners/types of learners?
How do WE manage and support personalised learning and learners?
How can a generic PDP process connect with personal learning and the personal learning journey?
